Ken is the absolute best spin instructor out there, if you can catch one of his classes it is worth it. He spends a lot of time putting good music together so that you can seamlessly ride to the beat. His works out are model after real world rides and are designed to give you a great inside ride. I try not to miss his classes. thanks to the new manager at this local for getting new fans in the spin room.
This is a very standard workout gym and can be a very great place to work out if you are there during non-rush times. The staff has always been very friendly and willing to help. My main issues with this gym are the equipment. I am going to cover the area where I normally work out (treadmills/stair masters in the aerobic area). This does not address the basketball court, classes, weight area upstairs, or pool. Televisions seem to never be working (I have yet to go when all are working). They are constantly out of paper towels for wiping down equipment (just a basic lack of professionalism). Television audio connectors not available on all workout equipment. THE MACHINES CONSTANTLY HAVE PROBLEMS. This is especially true of treadmills. During peak hours it is difficult to find a treadmill, not to mention an audio connector for the televisions (televisions that, again, don't work). I have considered using the "Super Sport" locations instead due to these problems, but I'm not sure if that would be an improvement. It feels like the only thing they care about are memberships, rather than keeping the members they already have. Once again, the staff is great, but the amount of money and effort put into the equipment leaves a lot to be desired. I wish I could divide the review - staff would get 5 stars, equipment 2 stars.
I moved from Los Angeles about 6 months ago and everything about this gym is better than any locations ive been to in Ca or Nevada. Its bigger, friendlier staff, The lighting is dimmed in the pool area and the surrounding area is nice. I also like the fact that the 217 is right up the street. I can work out, and then head right to work.
Been coming to this gym for almost 3 years now and I have no complaints. I've never gotten any sessions done but the staff looks well prepared and friendly. Two levels so its seperated with cardio downstairs and weights upstairs. I have been to the one on Murray and Scholls and it felt really cluttered there compared to this one. Bring my daughter to kids club and she enjoys it there, friendly staff as well. Just remember to rerack your weights in the correct spot, wipe down your machines after use and if you're worried about getting sick, don't touch your face and wash your hands before you leave :)
I live close to this gym and it's my "home gym." I used to live in Oregon City and used the Clackamas 24-Hour or the 24-Hour on Milwaukie Ave in Portland (by my work). I use this facility often. Comparing these three facilities, here are my thoughts on the Beaverton location: • Staff and trainers are extremely friendly and helpful. • Manager (I don't know his name; tall thin guy, dark hair, balding) is kind of a jerk. Very unfriendly and seems mean to the staff. • Equipment is repaired - usually, but not always - in a reasonable time. But the fact that the equipment is in disrepair so often leads me to think that some of the equipment simply needs to be replaced. The one exception is the broken drinking fountain on the second floor which has been broken for at least two weeks without being fixed. That's just too long to leave something unrepaired. • Cleanliness is where things really fall down. This facility gets a lot of use; but so did all of the other 24-Hours that I've been to. But none seem to be as consistently unclean. I'd have rated this facility higher if not for this reason alone. I get that its a gym, but cleanliness isn't just about keeping the place from being smelly; it's about ensuring colds, flu, and other communicable illnesses aren't spread from person to person. 24-Hour Fitness typically does a great job in most every facility I've been to. Now that the Beaverton location is my home gym, I'd appreciate a cleaner place to work out. Beyond that, staff is friendly and the facility has all the equipment I need and like to use.
