Unfortunately, there's no fraction of a star rating... I endured this gym for almost a year, and I can't recall a time that I didn't have to repair or readjust some piece of equipment that was falling apart or was carelessly flung to the other side of the room. Most of the machines used here are throwbacks from the 1970's, and are so old even Arnold Schwarzenegger wouldn't remember them. The equipment is never cleaned or maintained, of course, and sometimes it stinks. The bathrooms look like something from a Skid Row flophouse with ceiling tiles brown and rotting, unflushed shit in the toilets, and mold on every wet surface not touched by the weekly dousing of bleach. The "sauna" is a joke, but the scum-slicked steam room works OK. In back is a "hot tub" and a pool that are usually off limits or turned off, and are probably used only for the owner's drunken orgies with drugged prostitutes supplied by a local, low-budget pimp, but I can only speculate on that matter. The owner cares little about the gym or bathroom areas, since it is primarily the tennis courts and tennis instructors that bring him the most money and easy pickings from lonely housewives and widows. I've seldom seen the owner, a big fat guy who is undoubtedly fatter by now, and as cheap and tight-fisted as a Scottish used care salesman. For what you pay to use the gym here, you could easily go to Crunch or 24-Hour Fitness for 1/2 the price and equipment that is 800% better, and it's just 4 miles away from the Athletic Club shit-hole.

I live in an apartment complex directly next door to this "business", and I use that term loosely. Any established, credible business would not have allowed ear-splitting, vulgar music to be blared all day on Sunday, August 17. I have two very young, impressionable children who could hear every inappropriate word and theme even from our APARTMENT unit. I am upset and angry at this blatant disregard for anyone else's comfort and feelings in the vicinity of this establishment, and although this gym is literally next door to my place of residence, I will happily avoid patronage and deliberately drive out of my way to give my business to someone respectable. If you'd rather not work out to extremely loud, obnoxious, and offensive music (that's torturing all of the surrounding neighbors), then take your business somewhere else!!

I'm adding my complaint regarding the EXCESSIVE noise from the private pool party that went from the afternoon through late evening on Sunday August 17th. It's apparent to me that the owner of the PAC has total disregard for the neighboorhood in which he has his business. The PAC is surrounded by residential apartment homes and single family homes, plus several senior living facilities; but that apparently it didn't matter to the owner. The pool party went through late Sunday evening; but the fact that many people get up early Monday morning for work apparently didn't matter to the owner. I wonder how a business owner, who displayed such total disrespect for the MANY potential future customers that make up the neighboorhood on Sunday, treat his paying customers? If I had any inclination of becoming a member of the PAC that idea has been totally squashed.

I live in a nearby apartment, about a block and half away. They have been playing music so loud I can hear it in my apartment with the windows shut. I went over to ask them to shut it down, where a you man claiming to be the OWNER refused. I've measured the volume at the property line at 88 decibels, the Title 18 limit is 60 decibels.
