Lane 5 CrossFit
Reviews
A few years ago I started to hear great referrals about Lane 5 Crossfit and the owners/coaches and brothers Tom Pappas and Bill Pappas. I had just recently recovered from a back injury and I was looking for a place to get back into shape and more importantly not get injured again. I jumped in with both feet and signed up with a good friend. My life has been enriched ever since. If you are anything like me and part of your personality is drawn to aspects of community, competition, or having fun while exercising than stop reading this, let go of your computer mouse and check this place out! My experience over the past few years has proven the workouts are challenging, the results are possible and more, and the coaching is safe and professional. I've been impressed most with the background of knowledge and experience that Tom & Bill have earned and developed over their successful careers and it's a gift to this town. Immediately the workouts became just a bonus to the great atmosphere and making new friends with so many awesome people.
What is important to me in a gym is a sense of community. At Lane 5, that's what you get first hand. Secondly come the workouts! I have enjoyed getting to know the owners Tom and Billy Pappas. It's comforting to have coaches who live and breath personal fitness. They each bring to the table a rich history of athletic competition, skills and education. They truly do care for your health and overall well being. Their coaching styles are personal. They spend time with each member working on form and technique. All skill levels are welcome. Each person is treated the same and with respect. Lane 5 has a great location. Close to downtown and just up the road from the University of Oregon. Their facility is large and spacious. There are two bathrooms with showers. The gym is always clean and well organized. The equipment is in great shape. If you need to borrow a jump rope, there is always some one willing to give up theirs. That's the community. I've created some new friendships and created a new lifestyle. All thanks to Lane 5 CrossFit.
I do not consider myself to be an athletic person... I exercise on my own but not like this. Crossfit is an amazing workout and Lane 5 makes it doable for any level of athleticism. The coaches and owners (the Pappas brothers) are very knowledgeable about crossfit, the body, and training in general. The gym members and coaches are all super welcoming, it's like everyone there wants to be your friend. I would highly recommend this crossfit gym.
After an ACL surgery I was looking for a change in my training routine. I wanted something that would give me a more well rounded fitness than the mostly running based activity I'd been doing to stay in shape. I dragged my feet for quite some time trying to avoid getting on the Crossfit "bandwagon". After my first few visits with a friend to Lane 5, my opinions quickly began to change and I haven't looked back. It has been the perfect fit for me. The facilities are great and the community is fun loving, hard working and welcoming. I couldn't have asked for better coaches in Tom and Billy, you would be hard pressed to find two more qualified coaches with their cumulative knowledge and experience. On top of all this I feel more fit and healthy than I have in years.
Billy and Tom are amazing trainers. They've always been patient and willing to teach me the proper form of Olympic lifting, running, and basic aerobic movements. Any time I've felt overly sore, stiff, or in pain, they've taken the time to identify the problem and propose solutions, rather than to push it aside for more gains now and more hurting later. You cannot find better coaches- or people- than you find in this gym! The community is supportive, the coaching authentic and rooted deep, and the floor open to discussion and opportunities to learn more than just Crossfit. Lane 5 Crossfit isn't just a gym, it's an educational opportunity to train with world class trainers and create beautiful friendships with the people working out beside you.
