Cruddy vibe, bad airflow, and particle board(osb) construction make this more of an unhealth club than a health club.
They closed the skatepark to put in a bunch of trampolines! Now there is a good business decision. There was only one indoor skate park in Eugene and there are probably 4-5 places that have trampolines. This was a great resource for Eugene that was poorly operated. They could have built a brand and had someone run it that was enthusiastic about skate parks, instead they looked at it as a liability. Hopefully some of the local skate shops can fill the void and build a nice indoor park somewhere. It is a great resource for kids and keeps them from playing video games all the time.
The guy who owns the place might put on a pretty nice guise. He's pretty notorious for being a completely greedy sleaze-bag, ripping off plenty of people who have worked for him. As far as the skatepark goes, plenty of things that you can have fun on; skateboarding allows one to have fun on basically anything.. It was very obviously NOT designed by someone who skateboards. Still there are plenty of things there. They are all deteriorating by the day. It is very dusty in there, the bottoms of some of the ramps are lopping up off the ground. I saw one person unexpectedly catch his foot at the bottom of one of them and Snap both his fibula and tibula!!(worth the 10 dollars?) Foam pit is more like jumping into a pit of concrete, there's barely any foam. Much of the coping sticks out ridiculously, the coping on one of the ledges is only held on by One screw. Some of the boxes have holes in them, one of them has no support beams on the bottom and it sways when someone ollies onto it. Looks like it'll collapse any minute. Sometimes there are kids playing 'tag' in the skate park, nearly getting plowed by skateboarders. A lot of bikes crowding the place and tearing up the ramps because they are not very strong to begin with. Last but not least, the worst music I've ever heard assaults my ears Every Time I've been there. Brittany Spears like pop music or some sort of obnoxious/boring Rap/Druggy-Rave music. Basically the place is okay if you are craving a skate to the extent that you don't mind the corporate-jocky-chucky-cheese vibes in a minimal, unkept hazard of a skatepark, going there most likely leaving to feel ripped-off. Because that's what the place was Designed to be... A Rip-Off...
I love this place. My family and I spent a month and a half here learning to roller skate on the ramps, and as soon as the rains start up again, we'll be back. Sure, the jumps are a bit crowded together, and the skatepark is much more run down than in the pictures, but who cares? Just being an all year skatepark in our area earns them four stars as far as I'm concerned. The fifth star is because the hours are great, the staff is cool, the price is better than most gyms that do not have skateparks, and you basically get a free gym membership along with your skatepark access.
The US SportsPlex Gym is just like all the other "Fitness" clubs. The facilities are marginal. The "Fitness" coaches are into inflated rates to make money. The US SportsPlex false billing business practices are unethical. We terminated our membership and continued to be billed for 3+ months despite multiple calls to stop the bill. We moved out of Eugene and are still receiving false billing and late charges. This has never been resolved. Our next step is to take US SportsPlex to court. Warning... Don't fall into this trap.
